I am a proud graduate of Ashland
University, what many consider to be one of the best colleges for Teacher
Education in the area. My time spent at Ashland
has given me a strong foundation for teaching at all levels of early childhood. Having recently graduated, I am up-to-date
on the latest teaching strategies and classroom technology. I bring fresh ideas
along with my creativity and enthusiasm for teaching into the classroom.
After leaving Ashland,
I began working as a Reading First teacher with the Cleveland
Municipal School District. This
position allowed me to gain more experience working in all early childhood grade levels and with children in a multicultural
urban setting. Not only was I able to fine-tune my classroom management techniques, but this program gave me the opportunity
to work more closely and cooperatively with other teachers and professionals.
Most recently, I have been working as a kindergarten
teacher for the Brunswick City
School District. Because I was hired into a traveling position with two
separate school buildings, I was challenged to become a more organized and more prepared educator than I had ever imagined.
I’ve become an integral part of the grade level team and regularly collaborate on lesson planning, book studies, and
creating or updating the curriculum. I am also a participant of a new school improvement project on keeping student data portfolios
and demonstrating how they help to motivate students to excel in the classroom. I look forward to continuing to develop this
project as I continue my teaching career.
